Carlsberg stops investments in the East |
The announced investment in a new brewery in Charkov in Ukraine by the Carlsberg Group has been cancelled. The plant in Charkov was supposed to produce up to a million hectolitres of beer and cost around 55 million Euros. Since the middle of 2009, the consumption of the golden beverage dropped in Ukraine from 61 litres per capita in 2008 down to 55 litres and the sale dropped by nearly 14%.

Vodka price in Russia has risen twice |
The Russian government is consistently executing a strategy reducing sale of alcoholic beverages, particularly vodka within the frames of the alcoholism fight campaign. In January this year, the price for the cheapest vodka in Russia raised up to 89 roubles (around 3 USD).

Sparkling wines and champagnes cheap as never |
In December, the beverages with bubbles emerged on the shelves for record-breaking low prices. The cheapest were for 5 zlotys. Average price for a sparkling wine in Christmas and New Year’s Eve time is estimated at 7 - 8 zlotys. The crisis has not omitted the original beverages from the top shelf. Bottles of young champagne for less than 10 Euros emerged in France.

CEDC shall take over Russian Alcohol Group |
Central European Distribution Corporation has received an approval of the Russian Federal Anti-Monopolistic Office for a purchase of all remaining Russian Alcohol Group departments, gaining 100% of the shares constituting the control take-over.

Kompania Piwowarska invests in personnel |
Kompania Piwowarska has received co-financing from the European Cohesion Fund for realization of the project titled „Complex Personnel Development Program”. The Concern plans to spend over 8 million PLN to train their employees until October 2008. The contribution covers 60% of the project’s expenditure, yet Kompania Piwowarska contributes the remaining 40%.

Heineken Brewery has concluded a contract for a production and sale of own beer brand in India. The third largest beer concern of the world is to purchase APB India and the beer company Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd.

Belvedere's shares for Bruce Willis |
Within the frames of the remuneration for the four-year contract for promotion of the Sobieski brand, Bruce Willis shall receive 83 thousand shares of the Belvedere Group, what makes up 3.3% of the concern’s capital. The value of the package is estimated at over 12 million zlotys. Belvedere is not disclosing the total salary of the actor.

Take-over of the Vicente Gandia Spanish wines' distribution |
On the 1st of January 2010, Racke Polska became a new distributor of Vicente Gandia wines. This way, the company’s portfolio was extended by the local brands. Vicente Gandia vineyards, situated nearby Valencia, are producing wines since 1885.

Successful Millésime Bio 2009 Ecological Wine Fair |
For years Millésime Bio Fair, taking place in the Languedoc-Roussillon Region in France, has been gaining its international dimension. The 2009 edition confirmed this tendency as it attracted numerous exhibitors and salesmen from Europe, North America and Asia recording 27-percent growth in the number of exhibitors and 50-percent growth in the number of visitors in relation to the year 2008.
