According to unofficial reports, producer of the Polish vodka, Sobieski, has signed an annual agreement with Madison Square Garden Sports, which stipulates a right to use the rights of the sponsor of the most famous basketball NBA team in the world.

The wine producer and distributor noted a slight drop of incomes in the last turnover year (ended by the end of June this year). Chairman of the Ambra Group, Robert Ogór, admits that the wine sale last year was on an equal level. So far however it has been increasing several percentages a year. Ambra however may be proud of a considerable net profit.

Vineyards lose on the crisis |
Despite the fact that Americans consume more wine, the sale of this beverage, particularly in the highest segment – above 25 dollars per bottle, is gradually dropping. Many American vineyards felt the results of the economic slump. The vineyards that suffered most are for sale now. Companies, which have not come to known brands yet, are mostly exposed to the slowdown.

The wine Cuvée Golesz from Golesz Vineyard in Jaso won a second place and was awarded with silver medal on the 18th international wine contest Winoforum 2009, which took place in Tarczyn in Slovakia. Tasting took place blindfold. The liquor wine of Roman Myliwiec lost in its category only with the Tokay Slovakian wine. The Polish wines competed here for the first time.

The Court has dismissed a motion on secondary bankruptcy declaration of the Polmos Distillery from Cracow, the entity incorporated into the Belvedere Group. The petition was filed by Bank of New York Mellon, representing the covenantees of the French company. The Cracow’s court found that only an entity registered in our country may file a bankruptcy motion.

Advertisement labelling on the initiative of the beer industry |
Since July this year, the beer industry is successively introducing beer advertisement labelling “Alcohol. Only for Adults”. This project is an integral part of the strategy of the self-regulating industry in the field of advertisement. The “Alcohol. Only for Adults” symbol shall be introduced in TV spots and cinema advertisement products by breweries – the signatories of the “Agreement”. Introduction of the “Alcohol. Only for Adults” symbol is a common initiatives of the breweries associated in the Association of the Beer Industry Employers – Browary Polskie: Kompania Piwowarska SA, Grupa ywiec SA, Carlsberg Polska SA and Royal Unibrew Polska Sp. z o.o., representing over 90% of the beer market in Poland.

Sobieski was the fastest growing vodka brand on the American market in 2008. Last year, the sale of this vodka increased in the United States as much as by 410% reaching a level of 255 thousand 9-litre carton boxes. Perhaps curiosity of novelty helped Sobieski achieving such high sale dynamism in 2008. The plans of the vodka’s international expansion however reach much further than only Unites States and include such countries like China and India.

Good results of Ciechan Brewery |
Although majority of breweries score weak sale results, Ciechan Brewery noted a very high, comparing to the last year, 40-percent sale growth over a period of the last six months. Chairman of the Ciechan Brewery, Krzysztof Fadowski says – Thanks to increased quantity of packaging and improved transportation, we have managed to increase high sale and as a result high incomes as well. However due to the crisis we are still acting carefully.
